ACCESSIBILITY & INCLUSION

FixxeL is committed to promoting digital accessibility for everyone, including and especially individuals with disabilities—ensuring they are uplifted within the digital community and across the internet. Therefore, while we are continually improving the user experience for our client-partners’ websites as well as our own, this is how we are proudly applying accessibility measures that are sure to meet or exceed the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2-2.2 standards as set by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3) to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990 for those individuals.

Specific Measures FixxeL Takes to Support Accessibility

FixxeL takes the following measures to ensure accessibility of our business, hiring, and our website at www.FixxeL.co and its pages:

  • While we are remote and don’t have physical doors to include handicapped access to, “inclusion and growth for all people” and “indiscriminately” is a part of our mission statement.

  • An equal-opportunity business and employer, we employ and include people with disabilities in our personas and within our staff at any time with or without choosing to disclose, with respect and anonymity as priorities.

  • Integrate accessibility into our staff and practices: An accessibility sub-role with dedicated responsibilities is expressly included in our Graphic Design Manager’s role.

  • Our CEO and management personally take steps to include Accessibility, and FixxeL never discriminates against people with disabilities in our website, those who may or may not be employed (chosen or not chosen to identify) in our staff, and across general business. With a zero tolerance policy for discrimination, including against those with a disability, affirmed acts are punishable by up to termination.

Conformance Measures and How We Meet Them

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. Google also rates accessibility in its developers’ Page Speed Insight testing. FixxeL ranks as follows: Developer Page Speed Insights - Google: 90/100 Desktop; 99/100 Mobile; SEO 100/100 Desktop; SEO 100/100 Mobile (10/28/2024 11:13 UTC-05:00). FixxeL is mostly conformant with WCAG 2.1 level AA.

Although the standard for "great" is meeting full WCAG 2.1-2.2 Level AA conformance ("passing" is 2.0), we have also applied some Level AAA Success Criteria:

  • Images of text are only used for decorative purposes

  • Re-authentication after a session expires does not cause loss of data.

  • Our videos have full on-screen captioning the entire way through, with no extra action needed to prompt captions, nor any audio required.

  • Although not necessary, we take steps to promote the appearing of our content (as much text and image as possible) on and across all devices, not just two (i.e. for desktop and mobile only) to ensure it appears for special-assistance devices or readers equally as well. Our content and writing is descriptive, not assuming the picture does the talking.

Compatibility with Assistive Technology

Technical Specifications

The accessibility of FixxeL.co relies on the following technologies we rely upon for conformance with the accessibility standards used. The following technologies must work with the particular combination of web browser and any assistive technologies or plugins installed on your computer:

  • HTML

  • WAI-ARIA

  • CSS

  • JavaScript

Alternatives, Limitations

Despite our many and very best efforts to ensure accessibility of FixxeL and FixxeL.co, there may still be some limitations. Below, we’ve provided a description of known limitations, but also potential solutions. We invite you to contact us (anchor) if you observe an issue not listed below.

  1. Comments from actual live users/people: Any uploaded images, for example to social media-connected feeds, may not have alt texts yet or text alternatives, because we cannot ensure the quality of contributions. We would monitor user comments and typically repair issues typically no more than within twelve business days. Again, you are always welcome to contact us here if you encounter an issue that may interfere with perception from a disability.

  2. Archived Documents (Client-Partners): These may not work with the current assistive technologies because they use outdated technologies that do not support modern accessibility. If you are a client-partner in need of translation, please contact your business’s manager immediately for personal assistance.

Assessment & Actionability

FixxeL LLC has assessed and addressed the accessibility of www.FixxeL.co by the following approaches:

  • 1, 2; External evaluation - Two third parties (Accessibe, Google)

  • 3; Internal/external evaluation - our website hosting platform’s Accessibility checker.

    • After combined days of working hours of evaluation, assessment, and website treatment, we have conformed with and PASSED all checks and measures per 2 and 3, and most of 1. This was a rigorous process involving

      • Manually adding a thoughtful description as alternative ("alt") text (i.e., didn't just leave it as the image name, for example, landscape.jpg = green mountain peaks) to every image, embedded text, and vector on our website for assistive technology, if not at a rate of 100%, then because:

        • Designating images as non-descriptive if utilitarian in nature if no alt text - for every image warranted (i.e., a blue box was used instead of a bullet point as a decorative list item.)

      • Easy and proper page structure identification, interpretation, and reading: We ensured all pages had a single, sole h1 tag, with proper h2-h6 and paragraph-copy structuring that followed.

        • *Google Page Speed Insights ranked three times and yielded the same score for SEO on: Friday October 4, 2024; Tuesday, October 22, 2024; and Monday, October 28, 2024; SEO = 100/100 on both mobile and desktop.

      • Ensuring all color-to-text contrast ratios were a minimum of 4.5:1 for normal text, and additionally, 3:1 for large text for each instance on every page:

        • *We did not leave this to AI or robots, but on the day of October 22, 2024, personally checked each instance and occurrence, on each page of our website that appears to the public, and fixed each occurrence that needed fixing to the best of our knowledge and against an accessibility color-contrast assistant across our entire website.

      • With each edit, past and present, we ensure all site text meant to be read is at least 11-point size and no smaller - anywhere across our site, even on mobile, and even in our fine-print disclaimers, by accessibility rule.

      • Documents':

        • HEAD elements include a title element with the name of the page;

        • Include a proper LANG attribute;

        • Meta viewport allows display generous magnifying and scaling (at least 200% or larger);

        • Page landmarks are tagged and described for assistive technology.

      • Buttons are clearly labeled, and link to that which their label describes.

      • Forms and form fields are properly labeled.

      • Iframe elements are labeled.
